Editing Package Configurations
Available In Core Suite 1.36+
It is common for sales organisations to combine multiple Products into tailored offerings to meet customer needs. This functionality enables users to create packages of Products (Bundles and Groups) and manage their configurations directly within Salesforce. This makes it easier for sales teams to select the right combination of Products, with the correct pricing automatically applied.
Prerequisites:
Please ensure the “GSP Subscription App (Full Access)” Permission Set is assigned to the user responsible for configuring package products.
Steps to Complete
- Access the Manage Configurations page.
- Navigate to the package Product you would like to update.
- Click on the “Manage Configurations” button.
- Select Price Book and Currency Configuration.
- On the configurations page, find the Price Book and currency configuration you want to edit.
- Click the cog icon next to the selected configuration.
- Select the “Edit Configurations” option from the menu.
- Add a New Section.
- Click the “Add Section” button to create a new section at the bottom.
- For each section, you can specify:
- The name of the section.
- Whether it is single or multi-select.
- If it is a required. Required sections enforce that at least one Product must be selected from that section when adding the package to an Opportunity or Quote.
- Click the “Add Section” button to create a new section at the bottom.
- Add Products to Sections.
- To add a Product to section, first locate the Product in the tree structure on the left side.
- Click the plus button. This will add the Product to the top section on the right side.
- Drag and drop the product into the appropriate section.
- Set Product Defaults and Pricing.
- For each product added to a section, you can set:
- Whether it is included in the package by default.
- The specific sales price for that component within the package. This can be different than the standard list price for the Product.
- The default quantity of the Product within the package.
- For each product added to a section, you can set:
- Save the Changes.
- Click “Save” or “Save & Finish” to commit your changes.
- Selecting “Previous” or “Cancel” will cause any unsaved changes to be lost.
Outcomes
Any changes made via the “Manage Configurations” page are automatically reflected in the “Product Manager” on Opportunities and Quotes.
Troubleshooting
1. The action has not been added to the Lightning Record Page or the Page Layout.
2. A visibility filter has been applied to the action on the Lightning Record Page.
Recommendation:
First, confirm whether your org is using the Lightning Record Page or the Page Layout to control which actions are displayed. Once identified, ensure the “Manage Configurations” action has been added to the appropriate configuration.
If you are using Lightning Record Pages, also review any visibility filters applied to the action. Note we recommend applying filter, so the button only appears for package Products.
Recommendation:
Verify whether the “Activate Multiple Currencies” setting is enabled on the Company Information page within Setup.
Be aware that enabling multi-currency is a permanent change and cannot be reversed. It should only be activated after fully understanding the broader impact on your organisation’s data, processes, and reporting.
Recommendation:
To create a Price Book Entry and configuration for a new currency or Price Book, use the clone functionality copy the existing configuration.
Recommendation:
Configure a visibility filter on the Lightning Record Page so the button is only displayed for relevant records. Specifically, set the filter to show the action only when the “Package Type” field is Group or Bundle.
Recommendation:
Confirm that the Product has a Price Book Entry for the required Price Book and currency. If one exists, ensure that the Price Book Entry is marked as active.
Recommendation:
If the package should also be available in the Standard Price Book for that currency, use the clone functionality to copy an existing configuration to the Standard Price Book. Where possible, create configurations for the Standard Price Book first, before creating configurations in custom Price Books, to maintain consistency and reduce rework.
Recommendation:
Update all Product Page Layouts and Lightning Record Pages to replace the “Edit Package Configuration” button with “Manage Configurations”, ensuring users have access to the latest and more flexible configuration capabilities.
