How to set the Correct Start Date & Number of Schedules

Start Date

When setting the start date, you need to consider when you can begin recognizing the revenue and quantity for the Opportunity Product. This must always be greater than or equal to the close date. Remember that when you move the Opportunity Close Date, the Schedule Start Date moves by the same number of days.

Number of Schedules

Depending on your schedule frequency, this should be the period in which you can recognize the revenue or quantity. For Example, if I have a monthly schedule and set the value to six, I’ll recognize the revenue over six months. Remember, you may only invoice the customer once, but you should consider revenue recognition and invoicing as separate processes. The number of schedules outlines the lifespan of the revenue associated with the opportunity product for the specific opportunity.
