FAQs – Product Schedules by GSP

  • Can I get a report summarizing This Year's Closed Won Product Schedule Data for easy reading at the executive level?

This information is on the Committed Revenue This FY report.

  • Do we have multiple products if the revenue spans over a year?

The Product Schedules App allows you to schedule revenue or quantity for a single opportunity product for 60 schedules, so you can use one product.

  • How many schedules should I schedule my products for?

Set them for as long as you can recognize the revenue or quantity. Remember, this can be a different frequency to the invoicing.

  • Can I set Targets for Product Schedules?

In the app, you can set product schedule targets at the salesperson and team levels.

  •  They link to salesperson targets because the scheduled date falls within the month of the target record. The target owner and opportunity owner will also be the same user.

  • How does the Pro-Rated Projection Method work?

This projection method sets a value for the first month based on the Start Date. We assume thirty days in the month; if the Start Date is the 18th, the first schedule will be the value for 12 days. If we also assume that you entered 12 months for the # Schedules, the first schedule is followed by eleven schedules of equal value. The balance (18 days) is added to a final schedule at the end, i.e., a thirteenth schedule. In other words, the app pro-rates the first month and adds the balance to a final schedule at the end.

  • Can you easily modify individual product schedules?

You can modify the Product Schedules associated with Opportunity Products in two ways: via the Mass Edit Schedules Page or by editing a product schedule via the related list.

  • Can I get visibility on salesperson performance against the target?

This information is available on the individual salesperson schedule target record and on the salesperson target dashboard.

  • Can you add custom fields to the Product Schedules?

The Product Schedules app has a set of default fields that will suit most businesses. Nevertheless, if you need additional fields unique to your business, you can easily add custom fields to Product Schedules.

  • Can Product Schedules be restricted to certain profiles?

You can control the visibility of the Product Schedule using the standard features and Profile controls. However, remember that ideally, any user that can update an Opportunity Product needs edit access to the related Product Schedules to ensure the functionality works.

  • Do you have best practices for using the Product Schedules?

Here are the best practices for using our app:

    1. Determine the Business use case for Revenue or Quantity Schedules
    2. Choose the right Projection Method
    3. Get the most out of Reporting & Dashboards
    4. Linking the Actuals
  • Could you use Product Schedules on Quotes & Quote Line Items?

    You have a choice:

    1. Enter the schedule parameters (# Schedules, Schedule Start Date) once the Opportunity Products are created.
    2. Enter the schedule parameters on each Quote Line Item, and have these sync to the Opportunity Products.

In either case, the app will automatically create the appropriate Product Schedules.

  • Can I add custom roll-ups to the target records?

You can add any roll-up fields you wish onto the target records.

  • Are Product Schedules Recalculated if I change the parameters?

Yes, if you modify the quantity, sales price, schedule date, or number of schedules, the schedules recalculate.

  • Do Product Schedules work for Multi-Currency?

You can use the app with multi-currency. However, standard SFDC doesn’t support dated exchange rates for custom objects. Please get in touch if you use dated exchange rates.

  • Do the Product Schedule dates change if I move the Opportunity Close Date?

By default, in the Product Schedule app, when you update the Close Date of a pipeline Opportunity, the Schedule Date of all Product Schedules moves by the same number of days.
