Adding Forecasts and Actuals to Product Schedules

When the Opportunity is set to Closed Won, the Booked Amount value of your schedules is preserved and locked. This is because it represents your best estimate of how the revenue will accrue at the time of winning the deal.

Of course, the actual revenue may materialize differently. Fortunately, you can preserve the original figures while updating the schedules to reflect how the revenue pans out in reality.

To do this:

  1. Click the Manage Schedules button on a Closed Won opportunity.
  2. Expand the section for the relevant Opportunity Product.
  3. Modify the Expected Amount of the appropriate schedule(s).
  4. Click Save.

The pre-built dashboard within the app includes charts and reports comparing the Booked Amount with the Expected Amount. In other words, the reports track the difference between how you anticipated the revenue will materialize with what happened on the ground.
