Customize the Close Date link

By default, in the Product Schedule app, when you update the Close Date of a pipeline Opportunity, the Schedule Date of all Product Schedules moves by the same number of days.

However, there are two ways you can customize the automated feature:

Disable automated Schedule Date changes

You can disable the feature that automatically adjusts the Schedules Dates when the Close Dates move. To do this:

1. Going to Setup.
2. In the Quick Find box, search for Custom Settings.
3. Click Manage next to Schedule Settings.
4. Click Edit on the Default record.
5. Change Disable Close Date Updates to Checked.
   
6. Save.

Use a custom Date field rather than the Close Date.

Rather than the Close Date, you can define a custom opportunity date field that, when updated, moves the Schedule Dates.

The functionality works like the Close Date, except you use a custom date field.

To implement this function:

1. Navigate to Setup.
2. Click Object Manager.
3. Go to the Opportunity Object.
4. Select Field Sets.
5. Choose the Offset Date field set.
6. Remove the Close Date from the “In Field Set” section.
7. Drag your custom date field into the “In Field Set” section from the top section.
   
8. Click Save.
